It’s 2:15 am and I can’t sleep. Around like 9:00 or so, I went to jump in the shower downstairs. I had a complete dorm flashback! There are shared showers and toilets which were surprisingly not that bad. The toilets here are a bit bigger and you have to pull up on a knob on the top of the toilet to flush it. On my way downstairs, I put some food in the refrigerator and a guy asked me if I was Mexican. I said no but that I was a Texan and we talked about how there were six flags over Texas! It was funny because he was like, “Hey, do you know Six Flags and why it’s called that? I enthusiastically replied with, “Of course!” One of the benefits of hostels is that you meet people from all over the world. For instance, I met that guy from Mexico. Then when I got out of the shower, he was busy talking to a group of people from Germany (and I think another group from France was sitting nearby). While I was tired and didn’t feel like mingling, it’s pretty cool knowing that there’s such a mix of people here. I came back upstairs and Brandy and I both crashed around 9:30 or so. It was pretty loud for awhile because our room is literally right across from the reception desk and is basically in the lobby. Somehow we managed to fall asleep though and here I am a few hours later, awake but still a bit tired. I am surprisingly comfortable for sleeping on an IKEA-ish mattress on the floor. It is a nice temperature in here and this room works nicely (all of it even though it isn’t all that glamorous). We’re moving into the dorm style room for later tonight (Saturday) and it’s just like summer camp all over again. We’ll have to rent a padlock to lock our stuff up while we’re out but it is way cheaper than a private room and all they have available.
