THANK YOU (and yes I'm shouting that over the internet) to the people who just contributed $400 to my trip!!! I didn't get it until after I was done cooking, so I would've said something before but didn't know yet! We had our meeting today at Adult Day Services and it was ok. It was pretty quick and simple. We mainly talked about who ADS is geared towards, how activities are planned and how the environment is set up. I was surprised to find out that our adults have to meet only two requirements to be accepted into our program here: 1) They have to be able to tolerate a group setting (since some adults with Alzheimers have a hard time with group settings and some individuals can be abusive towards others) and 2) they have to be able to pivot (to help with bathroom needs and getting up from chairs). Some centers have certain requirements, like varying levels of functioning but not our center.
I am almost done with all of my school work (I have a grant proposal and an exam due Monday) and then I'll be in travel mode. I went and got an adapter today so that I'll be able to use my laptop with their outlets while I'm there. Our professor advised us against bringing laptops (due to having to carry them around, theft risk, etc.) but I'm going to be working on other stuff while I'm there and need to have mine. I need to work on combing through some research for a proposal I'll be working on this summer and would like to get it done during some down time there.
If you have contributed to this trip and haven't gotten a thank-you letter yet, it's coming, I promise!
