Last week, I found out that I had been awarded a $1,000 study abroad scholarship. Unfortunately, I won't be eligible for the scholarship unless I enroll in the credit hours during the summer session (which I can easily do). However, I have decided to forfeit the scholarship because I know that there are other students who truly need this scholarship for their study abroad tuition. If I wait to take course credit in the fall, my department will pay for it and I just don't feel right taking a scholarship when I have a good back up plan and other students might not.
On another positive note, I just received $1,000 towards this trip. I don't have it yet, but I will soon and I'm thrilled that my financial need is slowly decreasing!
